The Starry Night Shadow Box

Introducing my third artful shadow box using Hueforge, the filament painting software.

It's a reproduction of "The Starry Night" by Vincent van Gogh.

Van Gogh was seeking respite from plaguing depression at the Saint-Paul asylum in Saint-Rémy in southern France when he painted The Starry Night. It reflects his direct observations of his view of the countryside from his window as well as the memories and emotions this view evoked in him.

I've used the following colors:

• At layer #4 (0.40mm) swap to Fillamentum ExtraFill PLA Cobalt Blue
• At layer #5 (0.48mm) swap to Fillamentum ExtraFill PLA Traffic Yellow
• At layer #8 (0.72mm) swap to Fillamentum ExtraFill PLA Purple Red for the rest.

Try to match the colors as good as possible if you don't have the filaments I've used.

Since these are rather complex STL files, slicing can take a while. Some of the STL files may report an error, please do not fix them! You will lose details if you do. The errors are a result of the complex STL file Hueforge produces.

Print settings

• Layer height of 0.08mm with a base layer of 0.16mm
• No supports
• 100% infill
• The STL's contain a very thin layer where the empty space should be. This is an artefact that Hueforge leaves in the STL. The slicer will ignore it when slicing.
